REVIEW

Oxylabs Web API review

Oxylabs rebuilt its scraping API as one Web API on 14 October 2026 and sells it only by subscription. What it costs, what the older evidence says, and how its residential proxies compare.

REBUILT OCT 2026SUBSCRIPTION ONLY

Verdict

The Oxylabs Web API is keenly priced for subscribers: $1.00 per 1,000 plain results and $1.50 with JavaScript on the $30 Starter plan, less on bigger plans, plus cheap Google and Amazon results. Oxylabs came first in Proxyway's 2024 scraping-API test and third in 2025. But the API was rebuilt on 14 October 2026, so no benchmark covers the current version, and there is no pay-as-you-go. Its residential proxies test superbly, on the same subscription terms.

Best for

  • You scrape steadily every month and will use the plan you pay for.
  • Large Google or Amazon jobs, where its per-1,000 rates are among the lowest.
  • You want residential proxies with city, ZIP and ASN targeting on the same bill.

Skip if

  • Your scraping is occasional or bursty.
  • You need independent proof that the current API works on your targets.
  • Your targets include banks, government or ticketing sites.

Pricing (subscription only)

As of October 2026 Oxylabs' plans are Starter at $30, Basic $100, Flexible $500 and Enterprise from $2,500 a month, with a $5 welcome credit. There is no pay-as-you-go. On the Web API pricing page, rates fall as the plan grows:

Oxylabs Web API, per 1,000 results (October 2026)
Request Starter Lowest listed (bigger plans)
Any domain, no JavaScript$1.00$0.75
Any domain, JavaScript$1.50$1.22
Google$1.00$0.50
Amazon$0.50$0.25

AI parsing is listed at $3.00 per 1,000. At Starter rates, $30 buys 30,000 plain results or 20,000 rendered ones. The plan is a floor: render 10,000 pages in a month and you have paid $30 for $15 of results, an effective $3.00 per 1,000 if unused value lapses at month-end (as residential traffic does). A pay-as-you-go API such as Zyte or Bright Data's Web Unlocker costs nothing in a month you don't scrape.

Google results at $0.50–$1.00 per 1,000 compare with $2.50 at PacketStream and about $12.25 on ScraperAPI's entry plan.

Independent evidence (all pre-rebuild)

No third party has tested the rebuilt API yet. Everything below is the old version:

Proxyway uses affiliate links and ScrapeOps runs a paid proxy aggregator. Spend the $5 credit on your own targets before subscribing.

KYC and refused targets

Oxylabs publishes a list of targets it refuses, including banks, government sites and ticketing. KYC may be needed for some advanced proxy filters, which is lighter than Bright Data, where residential access is for verified companies only. Self-service purchases are non-refundable, so check the refused list against your targets first. Proxyway also notes there is no two-factor authentication.

Residential proxies

The same subscription buys residential bandwidth at $6/GB up to 5 GB (the $30 Starter), $5 up to 20 GB, $4 up to 125 GB and $2.50 from 1 TB (residential pricing), and the traffic expires monthly. Oxylabs claims 175M+ IPs in 195 countries, with city, ZIP, coordinate and ASN targeting, SOCKS5 and HTTP/3, and sticky sessions up to 24 hours. Proxyway's review found the largest measured pool (3.2M+ unique IPs), 99.93% success and 0.60 s responses, against no pay-as-you-go, monthly expiry and pricing aimed at large buyers.

In bandwidth terms, $6/GB is about $0.60 per 1,000 HTML-only fetches (~100 KB), $3.00 per 1,000 asset-blocked renders (~500 KB) and $12 per 1,000 full 2 MB renders; at $2.50/GB, $0.25, $1.25 and $5. Entry pricing is six times PacketStream's flat $1/GB.
